Minturn Attractions

Easily the biggest of Minturn’s attractions is the town’s geographic setting. Minturn lies between the gorgeous White River National Forest and Holy Cross Wilderness, sits right beside the Eagle River and is situated between two world-renowned ski resorts, Vail and Beaver Creek. Visitors and residents can partake in a range of outdoor activities, from skiing or snowboarding to camping and mountain biking. So it’s fair to say the main Minturn attraction is the great outdoors.

Beyond this outdoor playground, the town boasts several other notable Minturn attractions. One popular destination is Lionshead Rock. Accessed via a 2-mile hike, the rock gained favor among locals for its resemblance to a (you guessed it!) lion’s head. Sadly, a large chunk of the rock broke off in 2014, but the trail remains popular, and the remainders of the rock have retained their name (even if they no longer resemble it).
Families are fond of another Minturn attraction in the form of Little Beach Park and Amphitheater, which is an ideal place for a picnic, engagement party or family reunion. The park offers shade trees, picnic tables, grills, river access, a climbing wall, a basketball court, several play structures and an outdoor amphitheater.

Still More Minturn Attractions

Other popular Minturn attractions include the Minturn Mile, a backcountry ski run that drops from the back gate of Vail down into Minturn, and the Minturn Saloon, a Minturn restaurant that has been around (under different names) since 1901 and is one of the most historic establishments in the Vail Valley. Explore these and other Minturn attractions below, then get out there and have some fun!
