Whether you're young or young at heart, if you love nature then Walking Mountains Science Center is the place for you. From kids' summer science camps and STEM programming to guided snowshoe hikes and interpretive nature walks, no matter the season there's an opportunity to learn and become immersed in the natural world. They also host an environmental film series, a speaker series and educational workshops throughout the year. Walking Mountains' Actively Green and energy programs train participants to run more sustainable homes and businesses. While they offer programming in various locations throughout Vail Valley, their home base is in Avon and they run a Nature Center in Vail. The campus is just minutes away from I-70 on- and off-ramps, but you'll hardly notice the hustle and bustle once you're there; it's tucked into a little valley of its own with 5 acres of wetlands and forest to experience and explore. The two LEED-certified buildings on campus are available to rent for meetings, parties and weddings.
