Vail Winterfest Ice Theater makes winter a magical time with its life-sized ice sculptures sparkling along the Gore Creek Promenade in Vail Village. At night the ice theater turns into a family-friendly cinematic experience as film projections are shown on an ice screen. Each year Vail Winterfest Ice Theater takes on a different theme that's captured in its ice sculptures and cinematic showings for a unique experience of the visual arts in Vail. It's free to view the ice-sculpture installation and to watch the films, so grab a mug of hot chocolate and stop by just after dusk, when projections begin daily. Vail Winterfest Ice Theater is usually installed by the last week in December, and it remains open for viewing until the last of the ice melts.
