Bridging the summer and winter seasons, Vail Oktoberfest is a community celebration of the autumn season that's made festive with the addition of music, food and beer. For two weekends in September, a taste of Germany comes to Vail Village and Vail's Lionshead Village for a packed schedule with exciting contests that include bratwurst eating, stein holding and keg tossing. Live music featuring major headliners brings crowds into town, but yodeling and traditional Bavarian music are also to be expected throughout the day. Vail Oktoberfest is a family-friendly event that's patterned after a centuries-old tradition, but this one is done Colorado-style with Vail's iconic Gore Range peaks on the skyline, ready to gather winter snow.
