Vail Mountain is internationally known as a stellar skiing and snowboarding destination in the winter, and when all of that snow melts out for the summer season, world-class mountain biking trails abound. Whether you're a beginner or an expert mountain biker, Vail Mountain promises an array of exciting trails. Gondola One in Vail Village and the Eagle Bahn Gondola (#19) in Lionshead Village offer bike haul ticketing options, so mountain bikers can easily get a lift to the top of the mountain and then choose from a variety of ability-suited downhill trails. Beginners can ride up or down the Village Trail, the longest and mellowest mountain biking trail, and intermediate riders will love speeding down Radio Flyer, a smooth, undulating trail that winds its way through aspen groves and lodgepole pines. Advanced riders can choose from expert and pro trails that include technical features, roots and rocks, and experts who have freeride bikes can set off on double-black trails including Old 9 Line and PMT, the steepest and most technical trails on the mountain. Freeride equipment and pads are highly recommended for use on freeride-specific trails.
