When it's summertime in Vail, it's time to play outside, and Vail Lacrosse Shootout brings lacrosse players from across the country to compete in a mountain setting like no other. Vail Lacrosse Shootout usually spans late June and early July and includes divisions of play for high school boys and girls (U19), elite men and women, and age categories all the way up to Zenmasters (ages 60 and older). The several competition locations span Vail to Edwards and include Vail's largest athletic fields at Ford Park as well as large athletic fields in Edwards, Eagle-Vail and Avon. Vail Lacrosse Shootout began in the early 1970s and has been based in Vail since 1979, making it a not-to-miss event for competitive lacrosse players and fans. It also usually includes a number of clinics and camps to promote sport development.
