One name encompasses four courses at Cordillera, each with its own personality, style and challenges. Tee times are required at all courses. The Valley Course, at 7,200 feet in elevation, is on the valley floor, as its name implies. This 18-hole, 7005-yard, par 71 Tom Fazio-designed course is set alongside the Eagle River with wide open fairways and a longer golf season than its mountaintop sister courses. It's open mid-April until late October. Enjoy post-play snacks at the Chaparral restaurant.
The Mountain Course is set atop Cordillera with stunning views of the valley below. This 18-hole, 7414-yard, par 72 course is set at an elevation of 8,250. The Hale Irwin-designed course is known for its rolling hills, expansive meadows and lush forests. It once was a working ranch; now it’s a golfer’s conquest. This one is open late May until early October. Enjoy eats and drink at the Timber Hearth.
Go a little higher and you reach the Summit Course. Set at 9,200 feet above sea level, the air is thin and the ball flies far. This 18-hole, par 72, 7530-yard course was designed by Jack Nicklaus, who took advantage of the rolling hills that are covered in the aromatic sage and spruce native to the area. The higher altitude means a shorter golf season, too, so when the snow flies in late September, the course closes. Generally, it's open early June until late September.
Just because it’s short doesn’t mean it’s a piece of cake to play. The 1257-yard Short Course was designed by Dave Pelz, a pundit of the short game. The par 27 course offers challenging holes, complete with uneven Pelz-designed tee boxes. Pelz infamously said the short course is fete worthy since a player can work in 90 percent of golf shots in 25 percent of the time. The course is quick and engaging with vistas to impress and is open mid/late May to early October.
