Getting to Vail via the Eagle County Regional Airport is an easy commute with breathtaking mountain vistas and red rocks galore. A few years back Eagle County lengthened the runway at the Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE), allowing larger jets to take off and land. The airport, known to some as the Vail airport, is located in the town of Gypsum but is only 30 minutes from Vail and Beaver Creek. There are direct flights from cities around the nation, with a more robust flight schedule in the winter and summer months. The airport itself is on the smaller side with five gates, a restaurant and gift shop. There’s a lot more at the airport as well: It’s home to the Vail Valley Jet Center, the High Altitude Army National Guard Aviation Training Site and aircraft storage.
