The Denver International Airport (DEN) has hundreds of flights arriving daily, many nonstop. It's the second-largest public works project in the world - how about that?! The airport is about 20 minutes from downtown Denver, so it is not a true in-city airport. It's served by 25 airlines, six runways and three concourses. It's a straight shot up I-70 to get to Vail. Be warned, however, the 120-mile trip could take up to six hours in the winter between congested roads and bad weather. Combine the two and a trip to the airport can be a headache. If you're not up for the drive, there are plenty of companies who shuttle passengers from hotel to airport and back again - or book a flight from the Denver airport to the Eagle airport for a quick, easy flight.
There are plenty of parking options at the Denver International Airport, from valet to lots far from the airport serviced by shuttles. You can also find many rental car options and even buses at the airport. For an early morning or late night flight, there is a hotel on the property, and of course the city of Denver is nearby. Finally, there are all sorts of restaurants, kiosks and stores for last-minute souvenirs and to grab a bite before your flight.
