Chef/owner Chris Schmidt studied cooking all over the world before settling in the Vail Valley. After success with both Sweet Basil and Mountain Standard, he wanted to create a fun, upbeat hangout environment where guests could order mouth-watering cuisine at an affordable price. The result was Craftsman, a new American eatery, that focuses on sandwiches, craft beer and American whiskey. The menu offers creative sandwiches for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. Some of the hit dishes include the vegetarian mushroom "pastrami" sandwich on rye, an oyster po-boy sandwich with spicy mayo on a baguette, and a roasted pork shoulder sandwich with spicy mustard. The menu also features non-sandwich items such as soups, salads, chicken wings and fried oysters. Be sure to check out the beers, wines, spirits, Mexican sodas and desserts.
