One of the most popular Vail hiking trails, Booth Creek Trail features the spectacular Booth Falls and Booth Lake. Begin this out-and-back trail from its trailhead in East Vail near Vail Mountain School and prepare to climb steep terrain through aspen groves for the first mile or so. Take a break at mile 2 to enjoy the booming sound of Booth Falls and cool off while having a snack in the shady forest that surrounds it. Following Booth Falls, this trail opens up to wildflower-filled meadows but then becomes steep again for the last quarter-mile hike over rocky terrain to Booth Lake. One-way distance for this trail from the trailhead to Booth Lake is approximately 4.1 miles, for a round-trip distance of approximately 8.2 miles. Booth Creek Trail is also open to riders on horseback.
