Even though Down Valley events might not have the grandeur or frequency of those in the neighboring ski resorts, this is still a happenin' little area. Eagle is nothing if not a town that doesn’t rest. You may think you want to take a day off from Eagle events, but the outdoors will beckon, and you have to answer. There are running races and mountain bike races, and then there's the BMX track, which is just as much fun for moms as it is for teenagers. If you want to participate in races several times a week, you can! Or you can simply watch the racers, which is (maybe!) just as fun!
Come late summer an interesting and unusual Eagle event is the mushroom festival. How small town is that? Eagle hosts numerous daytime events —really, there are nonstop activities taking place — so you just have to open your eyes! Check out the water park, go fly fishing, in July make sure you visit the Eagle County Fair & Rodeo, which is celebrating 75 years. That’s a lot of mutton busting’! The fairgrounds also hosts tons of festivals and artisan shows throughout the summer and winter. Lots of parking and plenty of space make it a great venue. Right next door, at the ball fields, there is always a sporting event of some sort, whether it’s kids’ soccer or adult softball. Action for Down Valley events starts early morning in many cases and goes right through til nightfall.
