There is no shortage of things to do, programs to participate in or activities to tackle when you are in the Down Valley area of the Vail Valley. The summer calendar is packed with camps, outings, outdoor concerts, running races, bike races, fundraisers and golf outings. Obviously, there are a few more Down Valley activities outdoors in the summer, but winter is just as fun with offerings and programs.
Mother Nature beckons when you’re in the Rocky Mountains, and she certainly won’t let you down with stunning views, heart-pounding hikes, glorious sunshine and star-filled evenings. Gypsum offers a smattering of programs: Watch a movie under the stars or get tickets to the ever-popular Gypsum Daze with world-renowned headliners. For nature programs near Eagle, head up to Sylvan Lake State Park to get away from it all. You can rent paddleboards, kayaks and pedal boats here. Hike around the lake or just watch the world go by. The rangers offer a range of programs for kids and families, keeping everyone engaged and, best of all, off their phones!
Down Valley Activities Engage Everyone
Summer is the time for kids to get out and explore. Down Valley activities in Eagle, Gypsum and Wolcott range from dinosaur camp to ziplining, rock climbing to fishing. There's no time for sitting around. Gypsum’s programs are perfect for kids when parents have to work, summer or winter. The libraries have programs and activities for kids of all ages and are always a nice stop off to get out of the bright Colorado sun for a little while.
